Indoor LED lighting

Currently there are replacements for fluorescent, halogen and incandescent lights, with alternative LED lighting.

The brightness in LED from 2005-2009 has become bright enough to replace the old style of lighting halogen and fluorescent. Remembering there hasn’t been a revolution like this since Thomas Edison invented the light bulb over 100 years ago.

Indoor lighting brings many savings in power for homes, warehousing, industrial, offices, and business.

Advantages

Low Heat, low power consumption, 70% savings on energy bill, less greenhouse emissions, lifetime 100,000 hours, no replacing bulbs/lights.

Cost for LED lighting will reduce in the next 2 years, as the more people convert the more this technology will be produced reducing the costs. Using LED for indoor solid-state lighting will increase at a rapid rate, as power costs will triple in the next 3 years. So the initial cost for an LED lighting system will become a lot more appealing.

Also the connection is the same so you wont need an electrician to make the change connection like M16, E27 etc.

Disadvantages

Initial cost for using LED lights in your home for down lights or bulbs is expensive, around $80-$100 for a bulb that will replace a 50 Watt bulb producing around 1000 lumens.

Yet it needs to be looked at as an investment when converting to LED lighting. A 50-watt light-used 6 hours per day will cost around $20 in power and changing bulbs (year 2009). An LED light that is equivalent to 50 watts runs on 15W, so LED costs would be around $4 a year to run and no replacing bulbs.

 Outdoor LED Lights

Outdoor LED lighting has a huge future, because it is combined with another increasingly popular emerging technology solar panels. Solar and LED lights go hand in hand as they are both designed to run low voltage powered devices.

Lighting for outdoor areas is great for LED and solar as you can place a light anywhere exposed to light and it will be powered. Meaning no need for an expensive electrician to run cable from the closest power mains.

Security lighting will benefit the most from LED lighting, and many cities across the world are changing their street lighting to LED. As well schools, homes, and business will benefit greatly on power bills and carbon pollution, which is a great bonus to saving our planet.

Advantages

Installation (No electrician No running cables) No bulb maintenance, No power costs, touch of style, No carbon pollution.

Disadvantages

We can’t think of any, the benefits override anything pessimistic about these solar LED products.

LED TV and Outdoor displays.

Outdoor screen for music festivals, sporting events and other places streaming video footage needs to be displayed. Available in any size from 1 m2 to massive screens fitting across buildings.

Fitted with thousands LED RGB lights the display can emit and crisp, bright picture weather in direct sunlight or an overcast day. As you may know plasma and LCD can’t only be made to a certain size around 200 cm, so the price for an LED RGB full color display is ideal for outdoor long distance viewing.

Disadvantages

These screens are fitted with individual LED pixels and can fail, but because LED’s have a very long lifetime the rate they fail is low. When many LED’s fail screen can be opened from the front or rear (depending on model design) for maintenance to LED’s.

 OLED

OLED stand for Organic Light emitting diode, and is the next big thing in LED and TV technology. OLED has the ability to make such a crisp picture with a contrast of 1000000 to 1. The O in OLED stands for organic and that is what is used organic colors to produce these natural colors for this outstanding technology.

OLED TV’s are still in development and expensive, in time the technology will get even better and cheaper in price. Sony’s OLED 11 inch is currently $2,500 and only 3.3 mm thin. OLED can be made flexible and still display that same smooth video display. Mobile phones and small screen displays are currently converting to the groundbreaking g technology of OLED.

Disadvantages

OLED has not got many disadvantages as it knocks away many of the negatives of LCD/Plasma TV’s like power consumption backlighting and size. The main disadvantage at this stage is price as the technology is still in development. Rests assure we will be seeing OLED TV’s at generous retail prices for the quality from late 2010 –2012.

Automotive LED

All new cars are been manufactured with LED for there lighting. Taillights blinker lights, headlights, and interior. But what does this mean?

You will never be caught out for having a taillight out, not knowing because the old halogen bulb has burnt out. LED lights last for 100,000 hours so you will never have to replace a taillight or blinker again. With exceptional brightness LED has a currently increasing market and future in the automotive industry.

As brightness and technology is improved headlight are been turned to LED for vehicles which will mean there will not be two bulb spots (high beams) and (low beams).

Instead there will be around 50 LED lights all in one connection. EG 20 LED light on for normal headlights and all 50 LED lights on for high beams.

Disadvantages

Only a lot of the news cars come with LED’s fitted, yet there are replacements for taillights and indicators as a direct replacement with no rewiring available at a reasonable price.
